Santa Visit 2012

What a great time!

I was not shy, not scared, and very animated and outgoing. Actually, I cannot stop talking about how much I enjoyed my visit to see Santa. I was especially excited to get a lovely (and tasty) candy cane from him, too. I also loved giving his whiskers a tug, too.

What a great visit. It is no wonder that I just could not stop smiling.

So, what did I ask for? The "big princess castle". Santa reminded me that I had to go to bed early on Christmas Eve and no peeking.

Mostly, though, I just kept smiling and hugging Santa.

It merits saying again, what a great time!

Playing Ponies...

I may have mentioned previously that Mom has shared her pony collection from her childhood with me. I am always careful when handling them and especially love when she sits down and plays along.

Halloween 2012 - Tinkerbell the Fairy

Costume by Mom.

She made the dress much like a tutu, the wings from old panty hose and hangers, and sprayed the shoes to make them green. She did not like the wings all that much and even picked me up a cool pair of green wings. However, I actually like the creamy white ones better and insisted on wearing them on our trick-or-treating expedition.

Oh, and I made it through many, many houses. I could have kept at it all night. Fabulous time. I'm already preparing for next year.

Sleeping...

Mom and Dad say I could sleep through just about anything. I am a very peaceful sleeper and love sleeping in my bed. In fact, when I'm ill I won't even sleep in Mom and Dad's bed but rather they end up sleeping on the floor in my room. I've generally always been an excellent sleeper even at 3-4 weeks old.

Note a few things from these photos. First, the checker blanket was a gift to brother when he was a tiny baby. A wife of a co-worker of Dad's made it for him. He out-grew it a couple years ago but it's still my size and we both have loved it so much.

Secondly, note the sheets on my bed. You cannot tell but they are "Blue's Clues". Cousin Dede LOVED these sheet when he was a young boy. Now's he's grown and in high school but we still enjoy using them (even if they are blue). Third, notice my small pillow. It really is my size and I do love that. Oh, and the bed I'm sleeping on used to belong to my aunts (Dad's sisters).

You have to also notice the blanket hanging on the floorboard of the bed. Grandma N knitted it for me and it is extremely special to us. I insist it always be nearby even if it's too warm for use.

She Cap and Wonder Woman

She Cap Costume...

Wonder Woman Costume (made by Mom)...

In case it is not obvious in the photos, I LOVE wearing these. And yes, we're a patriotic household.

Pink Bones and Alien Balloons...

Dad calls me Bones when I wear these jammies. I love that they are glow-in-the-dark.

Mom picked up the balloon at a lunch meeting she attended. She ensured that mine had a pink suit and Brother's had a green body.

Modeling my new pink cat hat and poncho crafted by Mom.

I chose the theme and the particular color of pink.

Gymnastics Suit

Here I am modeling my new gymnastics suit. I start classes soon and I'm very excited - not sure if more excited by the fashion or by the activity. Regardless, it should be a fun time.

Please notice my Tinkerbell bandaid. I have to show it to everyone I encounter.

Black Widow...

This past week I attended a birthday party with the theme of super heroes. Being a fan of super heroes because Brother is, I was more than happy to dress up. My Halloween costume (Tinkerbell) simply would not do. I had to be Black Widow the super spy from the Avengers.

I've read all about her in books we've checked out from the library. She's one of the few female super heroes. I'm not so keen on Super Girl or Bat Girl or Wonder Woman. Mom even tried to convince me to be Cat Woman since I already have my Jenny Linsky black cat costume but I was insistent on being Black Widow.

And so I was. Here are photos of my cool costume Mom made for me.

The back view - Mom styled my hair with gel and the hair dryer for the first time. I was a bit scared so Dad held me. In the end, I like the look, though.

My cool utility belt.

Can you tell I love wearing it?

GI Bug...

I came down with a bag gastrointestinal bug last night. Of course, it all started when I came to Mom and Dad's bed at around midnight and vomited all over them and their bed. What followed was the longest night we've ever had. (Our washing machine is still working over time to catch up.)

These photos are of me the next morning. I look like I'm doing much better as I'm watching Tangled but the rest of the day was still pretty crumby.

Oh, and life is always better when wearing Cinderella slippers, too.

New Tinkerbell Dress...

Mom pulled this together with some fabric remnants. There was not enough to make sleeves so she added the lace. She also made some pants to go with a new Tinkerbell shirt, too. When I wear those, I'll post a photo. For now, I'm enjoying my new dress.

Smooth Popcicle...

Brother calls Mom's smoothies - smooths. Therefore, because I want to be like him, I do the same. Mom had some left over smooth and made it into popsicles. I like both smooths and popsicles. Therefore, I really like smooth popsicles.

Mom's Lunch Partner...

Grilled chicken-on-a-stick and broccoli from Red Robin. Of course, I insist on my Tinker Bell drink cup.

2 1/2 Year Well Check...

This past week I had my 2 1/2 year well check. Aside from just getting over a really bad virus, I was deemed to be in excellent health with just the possibility of some early allergies. But not to worry, Mom has that totally covered.

Here are the details in photos:

First the medical assistant checked me by weighing and measuring me.

Here are my stats:

If you're like to compare to my two year exam click here.

Weight: 25 lbs (9%)
Height: 35.25 inches (33%)
Head: 46 cm (7%)

Still petite. My height percentile is down but maybe there is growth spurt coming on. My weight and head are running pretty steady.

Waiting to be seen by Nurse Practitioner NM:

Memorized by the otoscope light.

The nurse practitioner I see did not even ask Mom about my speech development because I was talking non-stop about Super Heroes, Cats, Brother, jumping...the list goes on and on. Although, I did have a really deep voice as I was still recovering from a bad cold. I sing and speak just about anything and more than half the time I can be understood. Brother does not have to translate nearly as often as previously.

I sleep in my own "bunk bed" as I call it. I do a pretty good job of sleeping through the night, too. I also eat just about anything. I am still not much of a fan of milk but I will have it on occasion.

Reading is still a big attraction for me. Dad found a giant collection of Pony books and Strawberry Shortcake books on eBay and I carry those around everywhere and will just stop and read at random moments. I also still very much enjoy my time at the library. Between Brother and myself we have all the Super Hero and TinkerBell books checked out.

Recently Mom asked if I had a best friend and I replied, "Yes. His name is Brother." We're still really close and enjoy playing Cars, Super Heroes, or chase.

I have several "babies" that I like to carry along with me. Many are cats but some really are baby dolls that I call "Baby". I love all babies but am not a fan of crying ones.

The night of my well check we went out to celebrate a clean bill of health and behaving so well at my appointment. We went to my favorite restaurant (sushi, of course). After dinner it is traditional that we ride the escalator up and down. I was happy Captain America was available to join in the fun, too.

Hooray for good health and happy days!

Painted Nails...

This is actually the result of a punishment gone not quite the way it was intended.

Here's the story.

Dad was planning to take Brother and me on an outing to the creek to find golf balls after running an errand for Mom - I enjoy these adventures with the boys. The intent was to give Mom a break. Well, I was acting up at dinner time and Mom said if I wasn't good I would not get to go on the outing. I did not comply and watched Dad and Brother drive away. Yes, a bit of punishment for Mom, too, since she doesn't get her break. But she was fine with it.

I was so distraught that I started to cry and cry and cry. Mom was so sad and needing a break she said, "Let's paint our nails." I was in heaven. Mom - not so much. You see, Mom would rather sew people up than attempt to paint tiny finger nails and toe nails on a moving child. However, I'll give her credit for her effort and patience.

In the end, we all forgot about the punishment and I had a ball showing everyone we encountered our pretty toe nails. (Even Brother who had a grand time with Dad was envious.)

Here's a little interview Mom did with me after our girls' time...

Ballerina...

Trying on a new tutu style Mom made for a young cousin. She's about 9 months older than me but we are very similar in body style. We've never met but she's just starting dance class and we had to send something to wish her good luck. Plus, doesn't every little girl need a pink tutu? (Mom and I think so!)

And yes, those are my own ballet slippers. I've been waiting to grow into them and I finally fit into size 7 shoes.
