More Nautical Cuteness...

Mom found this outfit at Gymboree. She purchased it for $4 after it being on sale plus 40% off plus her 20% coupon. And as you can see, I really enjoy modeling new clothes. Actually, I just like new clothes - period. I guess I'm a girl. (I also take shoes very seriously, too, but that's a whole other story.)

Eighteen Months...

Today I went for my 18 month well check.

Here are my stats:
Weight: 21 lbs 2 oz (10%)
Length: 32 inches (50%)
Head: 44.5 cm (7%)

Click here if you'd like to compare these to my 15 month stats.

For fun, you can click here to compare my stats at 18 months to Brother's stats at the same age. (I weigh about 3 1/2 lbs less but I'm only 0.25 inches shorter.)

Another great report from my nurse practitioner. I continue to be on track or ahead on the developmental scale. We are glad to see my head is also moving away from the 2% and up to the 7%. I still fit in my small hats but that's aright. One of our dear family friends has a small head like me and she's a brilliant doctor!

I still drink breast milk once per day - first thing in the morning. I am still interested when I see other moms nursing their babies and I will still sign milk when I see this but likely I am making a statement to Mom that I see someone drinking milk, rather than me actually wanting milk. Mom is very glad I learned to sign milk to avoid any uncomfortable moments of going over and touching another baby's milk source - this I never did.

So far, the only food I do not like is hummus. Everything else I will eat - veggies, meat, fish - you name it. Mom will even sneak me a piece of sushi once in a while, too. I am not too keen on cow's milk, though. But I do get plenty of calcium via cheese and yogurt as well as spinach smoothies, too. No juice, though - but that's mom's parental choice.

I did get my heel poked to check my hemoglobin levels. It was 13.5 so I am not iron deficient. And I did not even cry when the assistant did this. Actually, I was more excited about the Daffy Duck band-aid I received afterward. I kept pointing it out to Mama after my appointment. No vaccines today either. I am up-to-date on all of them.

My vocabulary is above average. I can repeat just about anything, especially if it begins with a "b" or "d". And I no longer say "Mama" but now mom, dad, and brother are all "Dad".

I like to have my belly button "beeped". Brother thinks this is great fun, especially if I beep his back. Brother still calls me "the tornado" because I like to get into his things and make a giant mess or I just cause trouble. But we still adore each other and make each other giggle all the time. We've even started doing pretend games together, too. He pretends he's a foot stool and covers himself with a towel and I go over and pretend to use said foot stool. It gets a good giggle out of anyone watching.

I still do quite a few signs - more, thank you, all done, please. I have fairly good manners and regularly remind everyone to say prayers and bless our food or even just wash hands.

My pointer (index) finger gets a thorough workout every day, too.

I still love making animal sounds: Baa (my best one), Ooooo (Moo), Oe-ow (Meow), Shhhh (Ssss for snake), and I also make a perfect fish face.

I love reading and have many books that I read particularly during bathroom time. Mom says she would consider me 80% potty trained. I say "pee pee" when I need to go and usually I will go for her when she knows it's time for me to go.

Favorite books include: Good Night, Moon", "Good Night, Little Qwack", "What's Up, Duck", and my various other picture books.

Library time every week is a favorite activity. This past week's library time was about music and I happily clapped, danced, and sang my way through the class.

I was very well-behaved during my exam. Mom is always amazed by my nurse practitioner and how she can get me to comply with a full head to toe exam. I guess this is why she will be training with her starting in September.

Sailor Girl...

I am wearing a dress I received as a gift before I was even born. It finally fits and I love wearing it.

This dress is worn in honor of meeting a real life sailor - a navy pilot.

Here are lots of photos - there were just so many good ones I had to post them all.

Dipping...

I've discovered the fine art of dipping. Now, not only will I eat anything but I will especially eat anything that I can dip in ranch dressing or ketchup. Thank you Ben's Crow Inn for introducing this to me!

It was just what I needed after our 55 minute bike ride.

Just...

It's time for some current photos because all you have to do is blink and I'm already bigger.

I just turned 18 months. I go for my 18 month well check next week so stay tuned for updated stats.

These photos are from today's park outing. I LOVE the swings. It's the first and last place I want to go when we are at the park. Mom usually has to coax me into doing something different.

Giant Sand Box aka Sandy Point

Since Dad has been on vacation, we have been doing some fun outings as a family. One of the recent ones was a trip to Sandy Point.

I was not too keen on the cold water but I LOVED the sand and spent at least a hour or more digging with just two plastic spoons.
